tonight i began my research of Thai cinema. ann and i went to the "Major Cineplex" in the Hua Hin market village and saw Koy Ter Yuem (See How They Run). it's about a little ghost boy who haunts people in the markets because he was aborted by mother. he goes out looking for his father, who turns out to be a monk. it was ridiculous and silly and creepy as hell. which made me want to see more and more thai movies. the opening scene is a bloody abortion. the film was trying to make a statement on how abortion is wrong and it ends with a thai boy telling the audience to not choose abortion as an option. really odd. and before the film began, there was a song and a video of the King and everyone in the theatre stood up like you do during the national anthem.
here is the view from the room
